First Christmas in the US and have never bought a tree for myself. Suggestions on best tree sellers, prices, quality and ecological choices - like potted trees? Best local sellers or is it worth it to buy outside the neighborhood?
Annette R. replied:
You can buy a Norfolk Island pine, if you want a smaller, indoor potted tree. They are tropical, so you treat them as indoor houseplants. I've had the same one for 15-20 years. I usually see them at Home Depot, but I'll bet Gethsemane has them, too. If you want a potted tree, you need to plan where you will plant it after Christmas and dig the hole now, before the ground freezes. Pay attention to how big it will get and don't plant too close to a building. Most need full sun. For a cut tree, you can check out Meinke Garden Center on Touhy and Lehigh, too. https://www.facebook.com/MeinkeGardenCenterInc?rf=152997554716299
