I'm in dire need of some information, as we are at a loss for what to do. Our dear dog has been battling a skin condition that keeps getting worse no matter what we do.
I will post a couple pictures in the comments due to their graphic nature- but has anyone experienced this with their dog?
He is a 7 year old American Eskimo (or Samoyed) cross.
He was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 2 years ago, and has been on thyroid medication since.
We believe he has Seborrhea, which can happen to dogs who have hypothyroidism.
We have been to a couple vets and he has been on antibiotics, anti-inflamitories and even flea medication. He has been bathed in apple cider vinegar, medicated shampoos and most recently a coal tar shampoo.
Nothing seems to help take the itch away. We have had him in a cone for the last couple months to prevent him from chewing/scratching in hopes that his hair would start to regrow.
Has anyone experienced this with their dog? Does anyone know of any vets that specialize in skin disorders?
If anyone can point us in any direction we would greatly appreciate it, as we just don't know what to do anymore.
Thank you!
