I'm looking for a handyman who can put in our air conditioner for us and put trim around a kitchen window. Does anyone know someone who is reasonable and does small jobs like this?

David to simply answer your question would be impossible and would require a home visit. Sounds like you have been in contact with Shawn to have central air put in and based on your input you have looked at both options with central being the most cost effective method? Though all avenues would need to be investigated. Both have their uses. I personally do not do work on the side due to insurance costs and lack of time and my job pays well enough to not have to subsidize my, pay and do work on the side nor do I care to do this anymore. Our product is in direct competition with mini splits so to say they cannot do the whole house is a fallacy especially since building is going away from the Mc Mansions. If you care to look at our product it is www.spacepak.com I have personally seen homeowners install in their own houses and at times do a much better job than some of the fly by night contractors. Though the first step is to have a heat gain done to do the job right and apply the correct size unit. If you have further questions on install or types of units that work best. A friend of mine did his whole house with mini splits and actually lowered his heating bill substantially due to oil costs and as stated earlier with the low temps incurred this winter the unit did well also in my cellar. We also foamed all the walls with approximately 7-9 inches which lessens the loss of heat.
