Doreen R. asked:Hey rescues, I have a question about low cost spay/neuter and preferably in the Mchenry County area. We currently have 7 kittens, 2 moms and 4 puppies that need to be spayed/neutered. We use Spay IL but transportation is lacking these days and they need to be done ASAP so we can get them adopted out. We do not adopt out any animal unaltered due to the stress it puts on our current vet to keep track of vouchers as well as adopters decide to add on extra services we don't authorize and it becomes a headache. Wonder Lake is not an option (it's my personal feelings and I don't want to discuss them. If they work well for you, that's wonderful!) Fox lake has too many rescues for years and won't give any discounted services for ones that aren't established already. Hartland which I LOVED got bought out after Dr.Genge had a heart attack and they will only service a certain group since they've been with them forever. Also, Mchenry Pet Hospital is a huge no after my volunteers had the most horrible experiences after spay/neuters and we had to take them to the ER after. We adore Riverside, but even after their generous discounts they do cost quite a bit so we use them for medical needs and surgeries the most. Now if anyone has any other place to have me call (I just left a message with the receptionist at AHA, waiting for a call back) please give me suggestions! I really don't want to debate about the places I have mentioned, as I am sure everyone has great experiences or share the same view on the few I won't go to. I just want to be able to spay/neuter these animals without missing an entire day of work or miss my kids getting home from school or making them late for school in the am to get them to Lisle.
