Jim and June you've only heard one, unfair and untrue report by reading that article. So give us a chance to enlighten you about Southern Oregon Goodwill. Graduates of Southern Oregon Goodwill's training program in 2012 for 251 people with barriers to employment average wages of $9.52 an hour, paid by employers in the community. Well above the national minimum wage and above Oregon's rate. Nationally, Goodwill pays between 5 and 7 percent of its total workforce using the very legal 14 c certificate program, and of that small percentage, the average worker makes $7.47 an hour. For more information, please visit. http://bit.ly/GwWork The Federal law enables Goodwill—and more than 3,400 other additional American employers—the ability to provide people with severe disabilities workplace supports such as assistive technology, health care, transportation and other assistive services. A very small portion of Goodwill's more than 113,000 team members take advantage of the Federal work program referenced here. And of those, the average hourly pay is approximately $7.47 an hour. And Jim, $.85 of every $1 goes into our Mission. We are good stewards of donations -- recognized by Forbes magazine readers as one of top 25 American companies, the only nonprofit on the list. We're proud of our local impact of creating job opportunities. If you truly want to understand the Goodwill Effect, ask one of our program participants and their families what the powe of work means. You can read some of many success stories on our website: www.sogoodwill.org. Thanks!

They used to have a place right next to Goodwill.... http://www.sogoodwill.org/ ..... that had used clothing, furniture and other items all in big bins. We used to call it 'dumpster diving' .... got some great stuff from there. And you paid by the pound. It was awesome! Not sure if they still have it though.
