I am applying for a British passport for my mom. The FINAL document we need is either her mother's Birth Certificate (any) or Death certificate. The problem is she was born in 1912 and died in 1967 and did not have the NEW SA ID number. Also the Home Affairs Archives is a nightmare to get anything from them. Does anyone know of a company that can help with getting a letter from HA stating that these documents are almost unobtainable and to have it addressed to HMS in the UK? I would think this company would need to have a fast track relationship ship with someone in HA. I believe I just need a letter like that from HA and it would suffice. Any tips? Thank you.

Dont know if they can assist but my sister and I are about to apply for ours and Ive been dealing with Sharon Lowe Tel: +44(0) 207 442 2160sharon@bic-immigration.com . Maybe she can point you in the right direction. She is in the UK but maybe could ask their SA office if they could help.
Does anyone know of groups/discussion boards for people planning to or in the process of moving from SA to the UK? I've just moved recently and have tons of advice for people making the move but can't find anywhere to put it that they would find it. I struggled to find useful information myself before making the move and would love to share.

Yes there is a lot of truth in that. When I applied my estimated earnings in the UK could not be included in my husbands. He had to prove that he could support me should I be unemployed. I haven't heard about having that amount in your bank account though but it could be because hubby met the salary requirement. It might even be one or the other requirement. A immigration consultant could answer that question properly or have a look on this website. http://www.bic-immigration.com/ They may have some info that clarifies. The UK wants to make sure your husband doesn't cost the country anything.
