  Hi. Nice to meet everyone. This is my first post / inquiry. My husband and I would like to adopt a puppy. We are looking for a lab/retriever mix. Where should I start my search? I am against a puppy mill and more than happy to look at the local shelters / but beyond that - where might I find a breeder locally? I have a cat I adopted 15 years ago and we have a 16 month old.   Check out the adoptable cats & dogs from Franklin County Humane Society at www.fchsnc.org. They pull (primarily) from the Franklin County Animal Shelter. All of their (Humane Society) adoptable animals are fully vetted and up-to-date on shots and spayed/neutered. Their fosters reside in temp foster homes so the fosters can tell you about the animals' personalities and potential suitability for your family.

  We have stumbled on a lost dog who has shown up two days in a row on the property where we have Panic Point, large haunted forest in Youngsville. We will be open tomorrow so, will need a place for her by then...hopefully with her owner. She has an orange collar and is very sweet with our other dogs. I want him to fill in his community service hours by helping families or people in need. Raleigh or Wake Forest area works best for us and only on the weekends. Can anyone suggest any ideas or volunteer programs he may be able to participate in? Thanks in advance!
