Any amateur radio FB friends out there or others who know about coax fittings? I'm looking for PL-259 fittings in the Reno area. Know where I can buy some? Also need some barrel connectors. I'm trying to straight splice RG-58 cable. I tried Home Depot but all they have is cable TV connectors. Going to try Ace Hardware tomorrow. Guess I'll look at Radio Shack but they don't seem to have any useful parts anymore. Thoughts? I guess what I'm asking is, is there a--real--electronics store in town or do I have to buy the stuff online these days?

Radio Shack still carries them. I did a search. http://www.radioshack.com/.../FindInStores-FindInStores...

Radioshack.com not in the store. You have to send it out for repairs. We are not a fix it store so we don't fit phones. I work at the Radioshack on bell.
Hey Erie friends: anyone know of any place hiring? I am in desperate need of a job somewhere, I have a lot of management experience and I'm a great server and a good bartender.

-=- Hi all, In the USA, alliedelec.com, radioshack.com, mouser.com or digi-key.com are well known distributors who may offer a suitable equivalent. Best regards,
Well, you all were certainly correct. Batteries don't last very long. Any suggestions on which recharge types or AC power? Philsla
What I would do, is goto a store (your choice) and get the external charger for your batteries... Chargers are anywhere from 10 bucks on up... Its better to go this way because your radio will not "stop" charging when they are complete... Scanners do not have a charging circuit to properly charge and condition batteries as they should be for maximum life... Then you will always have a fresh set with undoubtedly a full charge... Goto Radioshack.com and take a look at part number 23-437... Overnight and $9.99...
I finally ditched the Toshiba 740e that cost me more in repairs than it was to purchase. Its total useable life was less than six months. Anyone want the cradle, car power cord, software, manual,...
This is what I was talking about...fixes the problem with the audio port being on the bottom: http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&product%5Fid=42-2559 If the link doesn't work, go to www.radioshack.com and search for "42-2559" Or go to the store and ask the salesperson for: Catalog #: 42-2559 6.59 USD is the cost. Thumbprint scanner is fun technology, but not something I need...I'd rather have the D-pad from the 3600 or 3900 series... -Wraith
