Hello! My partner and I are planning a LONG tour this year and would love some advice... first question: does anyone have a recommendation for a waterproof jacket? Been looking at Showers Pass elite. Any other suggestions?

Showerspass Elite 2.1 - that is the one. Top quality jacket. They can be ordered from Showerspass direct. There is a Melbourne guy selling them here - not sure about his prices - Uniform Supplies or something, based in Montrose area. http://www.showerspass.com/catalog/men/mens-jackets/elite-21-jacket

I wld actually suggest a Carradice rain cape. It's waxed cotton, hooded and acovers the tops of your legs as well. They will go for $125 to $150 where a Burley rain coat will pull at least twice that. I use the cap in concert w Showers pass trousers. They keep MOST of the water off my legs, but not all and they dont breathe worth a ****.
Help me waterproof myself? After over 2 years of not giving it a thought, it has started to rain again in Austin TX. Yay! Although now I need some waterproofing so I can get to work reasonably dry.
Any recommendations on waterproof gear? I'm mostly wondering about pants and shoe covers that can go over my normal clothes and shoes (I don't wear cycling gear). Thanks for any guidance you can provide!

[Marmot Precip](http://www.amazon.com/Marmot-Mens-Precip-Pant/dp/B005CF8IR0) is my personal choice, and I like it quite a bit. Also check out [SealSkinz](http://www.sealskinz.com/UK/) for socks and other accessories and [Showers Pass](http://www.showerspass.com/) if you've got money to spend.

I'm a big fan of [Showers Pass](http://www.showerspass.com). Rain pants don't work for me (here in Seattle!) I find you sweat inside of them and end up as wet as without them - just more uncomfortable. I usually wear tights and change in a bathroom. There are a lot of shoe covers that pretend to be waterproof. The critical part is the connection between the sole of the shoe and the bootie - and I haven't found one yet that keeps me dry through puddles or standing water on the road. I'm trying [high-tops](http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=sidi+diablo+gtx&tag=googhydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=31562310077&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=914927738618476574&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_2j6gmwlnlw_b) this season and so far so good (but we've been awfully dry this fall.
