  I've owned a BD since 2009. In fact, I've owned 2. I have never had any problem with the Kickback. You should get the "pad type thing" for it as another poster mentioned; it used to come with it. Originally it was a piece is felted material that adheded to it and then they switched to making it some super firm plastic? piece. It sounds like they don't want to sell to you...try clevercycles.com...I bet they won't give you the runaround.
