What about this place? No idea if they have availability but it looks like a great place. http://thecitybeerhall.com/private-parties/
Sean M. replied:
There are a few places downtown but they are really event venues like 90 stateevents.com if we can raise the money to do something like that. It may be nice for out-of-towners to see what's changed in Albany.
Lorinda T. replied:
Absolutely Aileen Cummings Harbour! Great idea!! As far as cost is concerned, I think once we begin pricing venues, food etc we'll be able to get a better idea. If we're going to do a weekend, we'll have rates for both. Some may only be able to participate for the day. $25-$50 is reasonable for a days worth of activities, but a weekend will be around $100. Anyone willing to spearhead fundraisers? That will be a great way to cut costs.
Melissa M. replied:
Lorinda Thomas, great points. Do you think we could work with AHS' PTA and piggyback on some of their fundraisers or do you think this would be an epic fail?
Carly R. replied:
Previous staff, yes. I taught at Albany High for 9 years in the math department (with Mrs. Bulson!) and Rebecca Karp Bustelos currently teaches in the district.

Looking for local jewelers in Albany/Troy area. I'm going to be moving to Troy in August and I have been saving up money to buy an engagement ring for my girlfriend. ...
premiumbiscuits replied:
I'm not sure how often she does engagement rings, but I would definitely go talk to the lady that owns Annick Designs on River Street in Troy. Her jewelry is absolutely phenomenal and she specializes in unusual stones and minerals. I'm not sure if I've seen Moissanite there or not, but I can promise she would come up with something fantastic. It's nice to support real local shops with up and coming artists too. But yeah, she has really great prices considering the quality of work and it's definitely something worth checking out if you're in the market for something unique:)

I **WOULD NOT** recommend Glen Peters. They fucked up just too much for me. Most people I talk to say Northeastern is pretty good. Also, I may know you. Initials CP?
Samwholivesathome replied:
I don't know if these folks fit your specifications but they've always been great for my needs. http://www.joyellesjewelers.com/contact.shtml

You're probably looking pretty far outside the scope of the local jewelers here. My suggestion is to order the Moissanite online (I have NO idea where one would find a meteorite piece for a band, but you can find anything online these days, eh?) and take them to a local place that can make custom jewelry. I recommend Hannoush or Northeastern Fine Jewelers. Both have multiple locations but are all local.
mrsslowloris replied:
Sandra's Fine Jewelry is a nice place. Not sure if they carry Moissanite.

My fiance and I used [Howies](http://www.howiesjewelers.com/) in North Troy to get her ring resized. Didn't buy the ring there, but we were happy with the resizing and the service.
EndlessIke replied:
I have to put in a plug for Northeastern Fine Jewelery. When I graduated law school I had saved up a fair sum of money to buy a nice watch as a present to myself for entering the working world. I went to probably a half dozen high end jewelry stores in the area looking to handle and try on watches. Northeastern was literally the only place that treated me like a god-damn adult, instead of sneering down their nose because a then 26-year old is asking to look at $8,000 watches. They will always get first crack at my business, I'm sure they'll try to accommodate even your craziest requirements.

Wow! Thank you everybody for your fantastic suggestions. I went from having no idea what I'm doing to having at least six different places to take a look at. I really appreciate everyone's help. Thank you so much!
