Dog Trainer Recommendations Wondering if anyone has a dog trainer they'd recommend.

If your dog is dog-aggressive, a trainer is a great idea but I'm sorry to say I don't have any local recommendations. As for recall (coming when called), and other important commands, I've had a lot of success on /r/dogtraining. It's a real supportive community that has always offered a lot of posotive feedback. You could probably also post there looking for recommendations on local trainers. [Here's](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRyHBkIJ90SZNRyq1 iVda5 g) a youtube channel popular on the sub that has been a great help to me with great training exercises. Good luck!

I'm very active in the dog community and I heard Synergy Behavior Solutions is the best. The trainer Dr. Valli has a PhD in dog behavior and is also a veterinarian. This place is also very expensive, but I heard it works. http://www.synergybehavior.com/about-synergy/

We've had a few sessions with Doug from Doggy Business, and are just about to start a "basic manners" class out of there as well. We've been very impressed so far. Doug is a strong believer in positive reinforcement, and has a lot of experience. Doggy Business is great because they do private training sessions, group classes, playgroups/daycare, and boarding.
We adopted a pitbull-mastiff mix from Multnomah Animal Shelter, and we didn't know a lot about her history. She was apparently rescued from some kind of semi-feral situation where she and 5 or 6 other dogs were mostly left to run wild by their owner. She's very sweet, but she's got some anxiety, so we wanted to try and get more information about how she is with other dogs, people, etc. before exposing her to other dogs, people, etc. Doug came and did a one-on-one session with us, and then we brought her in to the Doggy Business facility to have a controlled evaluation with other dogs. Doug was able to really pinpoint what made her anxious, what she was comfortable with, and the best way to go about handling them, both immediately, and moving forward with her training.

http://www.mybravodog.com/ Helped us with our rescue Shiba Inu, and I loved her approach. It works WITH the dog's natural behaviors and helps you get the dog to do what you want while the dog thinks it's his idea. 10/10 would use again. (Dude, I thought ours was the only dog that kicked up grass after pooping. We always pull him onto the pavement during walks in hopes that he'll file down his own nails a little bit. )

I can not recommended http://www.pawsitivelytraineddogs.com enough. We had different problems with our dog Arrow, but Kelsey was very helpful and gave us positive tools. Arrow has gone from having an excitement overload (trembling for 5 minutes after seeing a dog) to ignoring many dogs and being ok with meeting some one on one.

Mark Dunlap, Leader of the Pack. Helped us sooo much with our dog who sounds similar to yours. I know Doug from Doggy Business, great person, but not who you need in this situation.
Can anyone recommend a local dog training school? Local as in Yamhill County. Maybe one that can teach old dogs new tricks? I'm looking for positive feedback and not...

We absolutely love Cindy Lewis-Bruckart. She board and trained our Golden Retriever as a puppy and we also went through all puppy classes at Regarding Rover. She is a fantastic trainer. Communicates well, is very open and eager to listen to your needs. When we had some food aggression issues we were able to call her and she took her back for a quick retrain over Christmas. We are amazed daily and complimented at how tolerant and well behaved she is. She is best friends with our 11 year old son that was born with Down Syndrome. She is very in tune to his needs and wants and is so gentle with him. She understands him even though he is non verbal. Cindy met with us as a family also. She wanted the entire family in on her training. Our dog plays on the farm with chickens, pigs, cats and other dogs. At one point in late puppyhood, she played squeaky toy with a chicken. Puncturing and nearly killing the hen. She is a natural bird dog and wanted to kill the birds. Cindy took her back and worked with her and gave us tips once again how to stop the behavior. Now?? The hens often climb on her while she's sleeping and have been caught eating out of her food dish with her. They reside on the same farm and she's never touched one again. She doesn't flinch! She is social, obedient and the absolute perfect family dog. I guarantee she would not have been this way had it not have been for Cindy and her top notch skills, her absolutely mandatory recall and socialization techniques. I told her what I needed from our dog and she made sure we got it. Even if we needed a few reminder lessons because we have a very stubborn dog. She was determined to help our family and used positive rewards to do so. I highly, highly recommend Cindy.
