Can anyone suggest a good GP near Amsterdam west? Tired of being told "come back in a week if it persists".

Yep. My doc (Dr. van Lennep) on the Overtoom is great. The office is nothing fancy but he's actually a doctor that treats patients and doesn't just assume that everything is stress related. https://vanlennepmeiland.praktijkinfo.nl/

Nothing to worry. Your GP is just the typical dutch GP. An asshole. Especially when they see you are not dutch and they think their health care system got screwed because of foreigners hypocondriac behaviour. Try to contact these guys. My wife has good experience with them. http://www.expatmc.net/

Dr Feenstra-Kisch in Amstelveen is great. Not sure about the referral thing but she always deals with whatever we present to her personally (i.e. Not from the GP) although think an initial referral letter was needed for insurance purposes. Maybe just check with her. http://dermatologie-amstelveen.nl/

I pay like €12 for a year supply via this website: https://www.pilonline.nl/index.htm (website is only in Dutch and German though). And you need a prescription first.

If you’re in Amsterdam: there a traveler’s clinic with a licensed GP (huisarts) right in the middle of Central Station. They have an in-house pharmacy too. [Central Doctors](https://www.centraldoctors.nl)

Mine aren’t included in my insurance and they cost about 15 euro for a 3 month supply.

This lists a GPs appointment for someone not registered with a GP as a maximum of 27,63 euros. https://www.independer.nl/huisarts/info/wat-kost-een-huisarts/huisartstarieven.aspx Note the pharmacy also will likely charge an "info fee" to prep the info and explain the side effects to you, it's like 6 euros for those with insurance

I didn't need to have a health insurance to get my wife's pill's prescription. We just went to a clinic for expats,, talked to the receptionist and the next day the prescription was already in the drugstore (apotheek). But I'm no tourist... I just didn't have the health insurance at the time.
Petra_Ann replied:
For awhile now bc hasn't been covered by insurance and I think I pay something like 30 euro for a 3 months supply. You do need a prescription but there's quite a few expat clinics in Amsterdam that should be able to hook you up.
