If you have some mechanical aptitude, the first step should be to go to Appliance Parts Pros or some other parts website online. Input your model number, and they often have detailed instructions and videos showing the repair. Not to devalue the services of local appliance repair folks, and by all means use them if the repair is beyond your capabilities. Folks have to earn a living, after all.
