I have a lot of sources in my profession and I ended up rolling the dice with one untested on O.co. I'm not really recommending this method, just telling my story. ;)

Modern Mobler on Ga Ave is all second hand (but only in really good condition) Mid-Century Danish pieces at very fair prices. It's like IKEA, except you are getting the original and it's extremely durable, high quality and unique. But of course you have to dig that style and what they have in stock changes frequently and is a bit of a crapshoot.
Does anyone remember the name of the Furniture Store on the square and the name of the family that owned it? They lived in the back of the store.
Pattie G. replied:
There was Ferguson's Furniture and Gordon's Furniture but I don't know of anyone living at the back of their stores. They were both on the square.
Pattie G. replied:
I liked the Payday's! And my mom worked there for a year or so before she started working for Patillo's. Tammie Adams worked there with her one summer while I was working at the Fashion Post. 1976-77? Not sure...

Brenda Clark Carter.... Possibly the store you remember was kings furniture and Upholstery store. My aunt Jean and uncle G.V. King owned it. They had a son named Wayne and a daughter named Mary Jane. I think they did live behind it at one time. It was in the place that is now big time rentals I believe .
Brenda C. replied:
Someone else mentioned Youngs Furniture Store and I thought that might have been it but now I'm not so sure. It very well could have been Kings Furniture. I was only about 8 yrs. old but I do remember visiting my friend there and playing amongst the furniture.

I remember buying hamburgers, and suckers with money in them, from the Dewitt Hotel, close to the old high school. I believe the lady who ran it was Mrs. Leo Roy, or something like that. .it was back towards town, a block from the school, on the main road that comes into town.
Trudy L. replied:
Yes, Sloane, I think she must be talking about King's Furniture and Antiques. They lived in the back of the store for some time. When your mother moved to DeWitt, I'm not sure where they lived. We lived in a rental across First St. from the store for about 2 years. My brother, Tim, and I played with Wayne and Mary Jane during that time.
Brenda C. replied:
I don't think it was Ferguson's Furniture Store. This would have been around 1956 ~ 1958.
Becky B. replied:
I believe Ralph Kilbury was in a furniture store and it may have been with Mr. Fremont Ferguson. The furniture store was on the northeast quarter of the square (south of Lorick's and the DeWitt Era Enterprise's old location). I can remember when the store went out of business.
Kathy M. replied:
Yes it was DeWitt Furniture. My dad worked there for years.
Do anyone have a picture of Holton Furniture Store, I think it was on Washington St??
Carol R. replied:
