The professional organizations for appraisers, the Appraisers Association of America http://www.appraisersassociation.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=Page.ViewPage&PageID=741 and the American Society of Appraisers http://www.appraisers.org/find-an-appraiser both have detailed search functions where you can specify location, type of art, and purpose of appraisal (eg for taxes, for a will, for a divorce settlement, etc).

You can take a photo of it and send it to Skinner's Auction House in Boston and they will give a rough idea. If you look at their web site it gives you the information and it is free unless you want a written estimate.

Kay Houghton publishes a Fairlington market report that gives average home sales by type of unit. That seems like what you're looking for.
