My little sister just moved across the world to the DC area, I want to get her a gift, is there a recommends local florist I can get her flowers from? Or something else...

Not sure of your budget, but there’s a Shop Made in DC Shop that sells all local products and has gift baskets [such as this one.](https://www.shopmadeindc.com/product/giftboxesandkits%2Fdclovegiftbox/2921?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=30).

A bit different than flowers, but [Bakeshop](https://www.bakeshopva.com/) is my favorite bakery in Arlington. Thanks to COVID, they started doing deliveries, so if you are looking to brighten her day at some point, I highly recommend their baked goods as a treat. My faves are their browned butter chocolate chip cookies or their browned butter oatmeal chocolate chip cookies (new and it is now my absolute fave), all of their macarons are to die for, and they are well known for their cupcakes as well! Bakeshop is my go-to place to cheer up a friend or as a host gift. My heart hurts for your sister as its a really hard time to be a new person without the usual options to make friends being safely available to us all. Best of luck to her!

[She Loves Me](https://shelovesme.com/) is a super cute woman-owned indie flower shop. I've ordered flowers delivered from there to a friend in Arlington before, and even their small size "florist's choice" bouquet was pretty big and looked great.

gonna really depend where because this area is three states but in general 1-800-flowers (you can google them, you don’t actually have to call) will do the leg work for you

Looking for recommendations for bulk flower purchase. Need about 30 cut white hydrangea flowers for centerpieces for June 10th charity event. Thanks!
Sonia H. replied:
I did a wedding in NY for my niece and did lots of shopping for wholesale flowers. Wilsons Farm supplied many of our things - they don't offer any discount but their prices are decent and the quality was amazing - so I would check in with their florist desk but I bought a variety of the bulk things that I needed from on-line wholesalers. For the hydrangeas, I would do comparative pricing with fifty flowers. Their customer service is amazing and while I try hard to shop locally, both Wilsons and I were both shipping our flowers in from afar. https://www.fiftyflowers.com/product/hydrangea-ivory-white-flower.htm
