We used Home Depot for custom faux wood blinds and self installed and it was great!

I have used selectblinds.com for cellular shades and faux wood blinds for three different houses now. Only buy when they are offering 30% off (if they are not, just wait 24-48 h). Very pleased with the quality, although the price has increased now that they only offer cordless. I have found the self-install to be easy and even did some by myself with a newborn.

I used NOVA Installations out of Chantilly however back when I did this I found their prices were about the same as FW&D. This was in 2015 and it was about 4K. Yes, pricey! http://novainstallations.com/ I had the exterior door and storm door and side glass panels completely replaced PLUS insulation put in that was not used when Fairlington put in the original doors ... we were getting a lot of cold air coming through what they call the "transom" piece above the door negating the efficiency of our new windows. I'm in a Monticello unit (balcony and patio) so it's the door that leads on to the balcony from the dining room.I went with the built in screen in the storm door which is great. The storm door is really heavy and well constructed. I think our exterior installation is tricky in these old places, I remember the installer came out before the job just to check it out and make a plan of action. It wasn't just taking a door off the hinges and putting in a new one, it was completely ripping out everything and I believe building it out. I was very happy with the final product but I feel your pain re: prices. Happy to have you take a look if you decide to go down this road.

I don’t know if this would be within what he does, but we used Peter Duffy to add a shower to our bathroom and build the ramp on our back deck.
