We got the dual diagnosis when our son was 6 (he's now 13). We saw a developmental pediatrician at DuPont in Delaware, who gave us the tentative diagnosis, but she said all her tests were visually based and directed us to our school's psychologist. He attends Overbrook School for the Blind in Philadelphia and the school psychologist spent literally HOURS with him before the final diagnosis of high-functioning autism. I will say, as he has gotten older, the autism has stuck out more.

Actually: Dr. Joan Chase trained several psychologists about a year and a half ago. She is a nationally-known specialist in testing blind children and developed and tested materials designed for blind children…lots of tactile stuff, too. She gave a kit to each of the people she trained at her workshops in Florida. I just spoke with her last night.

A parent I know worked with Dr. Stanley Greenspan. Dr. Greenspan has since passed away. You might try to find where he was working, in Baltimore, I believe. We work with an associate of his in Ann Arbor Michigan. Richard Solomon. playproject.org They use a family and relationship centered treatment model. Our daughter is blind and has autism. Dr. Rick means so much to her and to our family.

Hi Taylor, I have spoken to an expert on blindness & autism, Dr. Therese Pawletko, and she is wonderful. I just happened to call her one day many years back when some of Ava's behaviors were in question and she was a great help. Sounds like my little guy. Visually impaired, intellectually disabled and recently diagnosed as Autistic. His school, Maryland School For the Blind has an amazing psychologist who specializes in Autism. I'm sure you can call the school and get info. Her name is Dr. Lorraine Rocissano. Best of luck!

I just got off the phone with Dr. Rocissano (we live in Arlington, VA, so she's almost local). I may also contact the Overbrook School and plan to sign up for the Greenspan floortime parent workshop. Dr. Mark Towns is Erin's doctor. He also sees my granddaughters who are now 19 and still seeing him. He is good with the kids, wait times are short and he is open on Saturday mornings for sick visits.

Dr. Towns, part of Pediatrics Southwest. He is in Duncanville, by Methodist Charlton Hospital. A little bit of a drive from Arlington, but a wonderful, caring doctor who really helped save my son's life by catching his defect at 4 months and sending us to Dr. Laird.

Dr Nussbaum. Diagnosed my daughters heart condition very quickly and sent us to Dr Kao and then on to Dr. Mendeloff. She is excellent!!! in north arlington.

We go to Cobb Pediatrics. It is in west Cobb off of 120 near The Avenues. It may be a little far out for you depending on where in Kennesaw you are.

North Atlanta Pediatrics is where I went and now JD goes. I have also heard good things about Piedmont Pediatrics.

I really like Sandy Plains Pediatrics at the corner of Sandy Plains and Shallowford. I picked them bc they were close to my store, but I absolutely love the doctors and staff!

We like Rainbow Pediatrics in downtown Decatur. And I know a TON of ppl who love Children's Medical Group at Century Blvd (Clairmont/85).

Barbara recommends either Dr. Colon off Sandy Plains or Dr. Kim off Mars Hill/Stilesboro.

There used to be a ped in Mansfield we loved when we lived in Arlington. His name was Dr. Joki. I'd take our kids back there in a heartbeat if we were closer.

I grew up going to Dr. Keith Harmon. He is in North Arlington off of Davis and Randol Mill rd.

We've used Dr. Joki, and are now using Dr. Moayyad. Both are GREAT! Your issue may be finding someone accepting new patients:/. But these are 2 great names to start with!

We just started seeing Dr. Terry with our newborn and he's great. I believe he and maybe one other doctor are the only ones accepting new patients.

We see Dr Arthur but I think she is no longer accepting new patients. Every other Dr we have seen for non well visits have been good. When the time comes the pediatric dentist in the same building is also very good

In Arlington is Dr. Laura Zucker...love her!! Family Practice Group...11 Water St. She's awesome and they see everyone...I live in Haverhill now and still bring my 15 yr old down there would t leave her!

We started with Dr Wornham when my daughter was born. She is now a 21 yr old college senior and still goes there!

My brother went to Dr. Davidson who is with Dr. Hampton I believe and he is wonderful.

I interviewed Dr. Raine (Cook doc) when I was pregnant with Alli. I really liked him but he was farther away than what I wanted to drive a sick baby!

I like Dr. Chiarello. He is old school.

Thanks ya'll appreciate the recommendations. Yea, we really like Dr. Lang, but I think a bit too many people do and she's got a really full practice.

Try looking into the pediatricians at Georgetown Univ Hospital as well. I have a friend who takes her 3 kids there and she's happy. We see the pediatric ENT there and we love him.

Dr. Stephanie Gold on Cooper and Arbrook is rated the number 1 pediatrician in Arlington. (I did a ton of research on this) and I absolutely Love her PA anf nurses and receptionist, everyone is so sweet. My son is 2 now and he busted his lip n I ran hi m in there without even calling and they saw us right away. He ended up having to go to Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth (which is the best hospital for kids and worth the 20 minute drive if you find yourself needing to go there) but the fact that they showed such compassion and gave attention to us right away was wonderful

All stars on Abram St is amazing. They had my son for 3 yrs with a learning disability and they worked with him and helped him a lot. Tx pediatrics is a wonderful place. Dr Geppert has gone above and beyond with my son and my 4 mth old girl. They are always there, 24/7 on call and the nurses have never failed to call me back when needed. And after hours the doctor will return your call. Love them!!

Dr. Wilfred Raine is awesome also.

I love Dr Davidson. He is on green oaks and Bardin. He's been taking care of my kids since they were born.

Dr Davidson has seen all my children and the oldest is 12. Everyone in his office is great.

Dr Kelly was really good but she was in falls church.
