Lori Risetto is teaching at [Balance Yoga](http://www.balanceyogaatlanta.com) now. She is hands down the best Ashtanga teacher I've ever had and is the only one in Georgia to be certified by K. Patthabi Jois. (Well, unless someone got certified in the past couple of years and I don't know about it.) She's helped me get into poses I had never figured out in 10 years of yoga before meeting her. And she is super nice!:)

Since I'm already a climber, I just go to the classes that are held at Stone Summit. I like the no-frills atmosphere there a lot, and everyone attending is motivated to improve core strength and balance as much as possible, since it directly correlates to rock climbing performance.

Mystic Lotus in Cabbagetown or All Life is Yoga in Inman Park are both very down-to-earth and non-artificial environments.

By artificial do you mean more geared toward stretching/exercise and less toward meditation/practice? I attended [Vista Yoga](http://www.vistayoga.com/) in Oak Grove for a while and really enjoyed it. They definitely emphasize the yoga practice more than other studios I've attended.

OP, what kind of yoga are you interested in? I've been to Agni a few times, and it's exactly what it says it is: Power Yoga. If you're looking for high-intensity sessions that build your focus and physical strength and don't shy away from challenging poses, it's a fine choice. If you're looking for a more spiritual experience, or somewhere that's a little more focused on casual health, fitnesss and flexibility you might want to consider somewhere else.

I've loved every class I've taken at [breathe.](http://www.breatheyogastudioatlanta.com/) in Chamblee. I've done their hatha, vinyasa, "yoga for all" and prenatal classes with several different teachers & they are all fantastic. Really need to get back to my practice.

Infinity Yoga (locations in Brookhaven and Dunwoody) is wonderful! I'm relatively new to yoga but have really enjoyed every class and instructor I have experienced there. They have something for everyone: beginners/basics classes, yoga for runners/athletes, advanced classes, and meditation sessions. Check them out! http://infinityyogaatlanta.com/

My favorite yoga studio is Urban Body Studios. Their beginner levels are [iyengar yoga](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iyengar_Yoga) which focuses more on the poses and breathing techniques. The teachers are tough too; they don't let you get away with not trying. No matter how full the classes are, they want to get to know you and will help you when you need it.

I've tried about a half dozen yoga studios across Atlanta, and my favorite two have been Thunderbolt Power Yoga in Buckhead and Red Hot Yoga in Lindbergh... They're both hot yoga classes, which I don't know if you're looking for. TPY has a lot of 20-30 year old women as their clientele. They have the kind of instructors that I thought would be intimidating (they're basically like the clientele) but they're extremely kind and helpful and welcoming. RHY is more casual. You pretty much show up and do your thing. The evening classes are pretty full, but it's a bit of a more mixed clientele with a surprising amount of guys. I usually go to the power yoga classses and they're definitely a workout. Evolation yoga in midtown has smaller classes that are generally more aimed at stretching and reflection. The instructors are very easy to talk to and eager to help. Active Sol Yoga is pretty good if you want a vinyasa yoga class good for all levels. Exhale also has yoga classes similar to this, but you need a gym/spa membership I believe. Another place I've tried that was a bit different was Core power yoga. They have a sculpt class that was like body toning with a yoga inspired sections. I've also been to their other classes, but I couldn't get into it. If you have any questions, let me know!

I recommend sacred thread and yoga collective. Both have really good teachers and a friendly, community atmosphere. Edit; just retread your post, I really didn't like Agni power yoga. I took a class with Marty and he gave very little personal attention or even alignment cues. Sometimes he even walked out of sight during class which was quite strange. After class he disappeared, some students had logistical questions and didn't know what to do. Every other teacher has made it a point to be available after class for questions and I found his unavailability very off putting. I would not recommend the studio.
I'm looking for a good reasonably priced photographer to photograph a yoga class for our new Yoga Samadhi website. Any recommendations?

My friend Rebekah Hagins Cole says: Hey! It won't let me comment on the post you tagged me in. I've only been to 2 yoga studios up here. Atlanta Hot Yoga in Vinings...not terribly spiritual. My fave studio is Be Yoga in Marietta (near the Square): www.beyogaatlanta.com. Hope that helps!
