Hi FB friends, does anyone have an allergist doc they recommend in the fox valley area? I can't take OTC meds and this is really getting old ...I'd like to find out...
Lisa W. replied:
I recently took Katie to Dr. Michael Radtke at Dreyer. I was impressed with him, his knowledge and patience. 630-859-6908. We went to his office by Fox Valley Mall, but there is one on Galena in Aurora as well.

If you're willing to go to St. Charles, I loved my allergist there. Her name is Virginia Madla. She was awesome. Her number is 630-584-6127. She is with DuKane Allergy Asthma Associates.

I second Lisa. I go to Dr. Radtke and he is wonderful.
Has anyone done desensitizing for egg at home under the direction and guidance of your allergist? Not talking direct OIT, but simple desensitizing. Looking for good...
Tiffany S. replied:
Sara Vasquenz DeVito--our allergist gave us the recommendation to try desensitizing at home because my son dropped a whole class in his rast test results, and it's one of the foods that is often outgrown. That said, he's still a class 5, so I have my reservations about it, but with the way the proteins change with processing, eggs are the best for us to try to desensitize him to now. He's also allergic to peanuts and tree nuts, so for me, it's one battle at a time! We did try a couple of different pepperidge farms cookies late last summer, but quit when his mouth itched a bit. I think our allergist assumes that could be a byproduct of the desensitizing (much like oit) and wants us to push through it--slowly, of course. Since this isn't an actual oit program, it's nice to have feedback from others that have done it successfully.
