Does anyone know of a good piano teacher? The kids love Mr. Jeff, but, I'm looking for someone classically trained in Russia or Eastern Europe, if possible. Thanks :)

Actually, not too bad. I'm looking for Fall 2015. We'll stick with Mr. Jeff for now. He is really nice, but, it's a part-time gig for him, and, he is not classically trained.

Julia Hsiao, NCTM is great ! My daughter has been going to her for two years. Big progress and ms Julia pushes all her students ( if you really serious about piano ) . She lives in Canyon Creek off of 620 and Anderson Mill.

Just my 5 cents on the piano teaching approaches . there are basically two types of piano instructors, 1) those who teach piano for recreational use, lots of them around the town and most of them are good 2) the ones who teach piano and require to attend festivals, take tests, ect. Both Ms. Julia and russuanovertones are #2 types.

If you go into the music building (right behind Bass Hall) and take the elevators up to the 5 th or 6 th floors, there are dozens of practice rooms. I can't remember the specific rules on them, but I'm pretty sure they're open to UT students and prioritized for UT Music students. Either way, I've been playing in them for years without problems. Each practice room as a piano in it.

if you have a Mac, Garageband has lessons included in it for free. Just a tip. All you need is a cheap usb keyboard.

I don't know about several practice pianos but there is one public piano in the student union. I wonder if they've closed the room for renovation.

My friend [Blake West](http://www.blakewest.me/) is a great instructor, and has negotiable rates and you can take lessons at his spot in South Austin. [Here](http://www.lessonupmusic.com) is the site for his new lessons company, which he's just getting started. Good buddy of mine, definitely recommend giving him a call.

If you're up north, Sam Howden at Round Rock Music is great. He teaches piano and guitar, and he's an amazing trumpet player. He definitely knows his theory and is well versed in jazz, too.

Capital Music Center if you're in North central (Burnet and Koenig).

The pianist from Zorch teaches piano on the sides. He's a badass, he got a degree from Berkley and much of his playing is improvisatory. Go hunt him down, Zac Traeger.

Clavier Werke school of music is great. They teach children and adults. High quality teachers, many with masters in piano performance. They run a great program.

Can't recommend Anna Beth highly enough! She's a wonderful teacher, and great with adults. Will work with you to find and explore music you like and what will keep you motivated. [http://annabethmusic.com/](http://annabethmusic.com/). She teaches down south out of a studio and also does in-house lessons.
Any recommendations for a local piano teacher who will come to your home for lessons?
