We just hired a vet at my wrk. Dr Blake. She is awesome. I am very picky . But I am begging to be her shotgun rider on call.
Rachel T. replied:
I personally would never let billingsly or marteney touch my horses... byler is better than both of them, if not byler than Dr. Tolley@Bakersfield vet
Louise S. replied:
Dr Comeau, Dr Ansolabahere.
Heather M. replied:
Dr Billingsley has been great with my horses!
Jennifer G. replied:
San Joaquin Vet is now up here in Cummings Valley. 588-3299
Lindsay H. replied:
Dr Elise Rubin(805) 708-5022. I have known and used her for 15 years. She's also a chiropractor.

Highly recommend Dr Willis with San Joaquin vet. 661-588-3299- he is up here at his ranch Wednesdays and Saturdays and can do ranch calls as well. He is very, very good!

ISO veterinarian: Can anyone give me the number of a good equine vet that is inexpensive in Bakersfield /wasco area.
Rhonda S. replied:
A good vet is not going to be cheap. There is Dr Ansolabehere, or Dr. Willis. Dr Willis' # is 588-3299. Sorry I dont have Dr. Ansolabehere's # right now.
Marissa B. replied:
Dr. Lucas is a mobile vet so she will go anywhere! her and her husband are VERY knowledgeable
Trish G. replied:
There is no such thing as a cheap horse vet. I recommend doc woody. He has been in practice since I was a little kid. So we are talking over 40 years. He's probably been the longest large animal vet in the area. Western Stockmen's uses him 725 2984
Abby H. replied:
Definitely Dr. Lucus number is (661) 859-6168
Rhonda S. replied:
Trish, It's so hard to believe that Dr. Woody is still practicing. He was Jigger's vet too.
Julie R. replied:
Yep needs a vet, hmmm for I use Dr Paul. I would recommend trailering mare and foal to vet.
Vet/Groomers recommendations... Can anyone please recommend a veterinarians office for our dog? Also, any groomer recommendations are also welcomed. Thanks!

Cooke's Veterinary Hospital. 3232 Landco Dr, off of Rosedale Hwy. phone: 323-1130Very professional, he's great with animals. EDIT: For a groomer, go with [Dee-Tails Mobile Pet Grooming.](http://www.yelp.com/biz/dee-tails-mobile-pet-grooming-bakersfield). They're kind, thorough, and treat pets amazingly well.

Thurman Veterinary on Calloway. If you are just looking for spay/neuter, definitely critters Without Litters. Stiern's/Southwest vet are also very good, but rediculiusly expensive. Thurman's smaller operations allows for more personal service without charging ridiculous amounts, like the $80-$100 that some vets charge for a microchip.
eva00kai replied:
For groomers i recommend All Fur Pets grooming. I worked there for a while. The groomer is great and she cares about what she does.
cnchylton replied:
I take my animals to NOR Vet. Chester and China grade. They do grooming there as well which makes me feel better because i have large dogs. I know they can handle them.
Ashkir replied:
Southwest person here. Bakersfield Veterinary Hospital on Harris has been amazing for our dogs. Once we had an issue with our dog in the middle of the night, they were open with a vet on staff at 2 am. For Groomer's we tried this new place called Doggie Do's by Camino Real's they were great with our dog, but they were also affordable! $30 instead of the $72 from PetsCo.

If you are just getting him fixed you should look at critters without litters.

I love the folks at At The Oaks Pet Hospital. Great prices and practical and honest when discussing options if something has gone awry with my keys health/wellbeing. But I do not need gentle. I like direct. So this has been the best of all the best in town that I have tried. https://www.oakspethospital.com/

https://stswvets.com/ Best vets in Bakersfield, I take mine to Stiern but Southwest is great as well. I don't know if they are accepting new clients or doing procedures right now due to Covid but they are fantastic and worth waiting for.
jujapee replied:
Whatever you do, don’t take him to Dr. Cooke off of Landco Drive. He’s a lying incompetent asshole.
wayfrha replied:
Thurman Vet Center is great. Clean and professional. Used them for all of my dog’s shots, neutering, etc.

Dr. Lohr at Nile Point Veterinary is amazing with my babies. One of my cats' kidneys went into failure at age 11 and with Dr. Lohr's help, I got to have another 5 years with him. One of my current babies was diagnosed asthmatic after a lengthy misdiagnosis from Dr. Cooke, and with the meds and treatment he's received from Dr. Lohr, he is an 8 year old kitten. Some treatments can be a bit pricey, but it's completely worth it to have my kids in such good hands. He really cares about his patients.

Dr Cooke off of Rosedale Hwy has always been wonderful to our animals.

I wouldn’t recommend All Critters. My experience with them with my beardie was not good at all. After 6 weeks of weekly appointments with expensive medication and two days after they charged me a fortune because of it all and finally gave him a clean bill of health, he died.
