Have you called your insurance company yet? They can help you find someone who IS taking new patients. Most of the private insurance companies will literally call doctor's offices for you to find you a person faster. If you look through your insurance paperwork, there is frequently a number you can call for assistance in finding doctors.

There is a private practice group of mental health professionals on the Good Samaritan campus call the Anxiety and Stress Disorders Institute. Total Healthcare has a bunch of locations and different psychiatrists and therapists. Might take you a bit to get a psychiatry intake for meds, but you should be able to get seen by a therapist right away.

Try Complete Wellness http://www.completew.com/. They have nurse practitioners who meet with you and prescribe your meds and the counselors I've seen have been extremely helpful to me. My first one left after about 6 months to move out of state, and the 2 nd one was great too.

If you call the number on the back of your insurance card, they should be able to recommend some mental health services that accept your insurance. Be strong my friend.

You're so brave to reach out and ask for help. It took me YEARS to be able to do so, and even today I still have issues with it. I don't know you, but I am SO PROUD OF YOU nonetheless. I don't have any recommendations for standard psychiatric care in the nuclear Baltimore area (I'm in Harford County and just started seeing an AWESOME guy in Bel Air, but idk if that's too far for you), but if you feel like you might need more help than weekly appointments can give you, look into Sheppard Pratt's programs. I did a week or two at the outpatient program about three years ago, and (despite my initial misgivings about the efficacy of group therapy) it absolutely was the main event that set the groundwork for me to turn my life around. It's not just reassurance and positive thinking; they really focus on re-training your brain to think differently and reframe your thoughts into more healthy patterns. Amazing people, amazing place, they accept most kinds of insurance and I believe there were morning vs. night options as well, for those who needed to continue working throughout their treatment. The first step is always the hardest, but once you've got the ball rolling, and get some momentum built up, slowly but surely it becomes easier. If you want to talk, or even if you want companionship, I'm not real pretty but I'm a good listener, and I'm always looking for excuses to make a trip out of Harford County :P PM me any time.

Sheppard Pratt has an emergency psych outpatient clinic that takes your insurance and is extremely welcoming and helpful, they are only open M-F 8:30-4, but if you can make it until then I promise there will be help there, in one form or another be it group therapy, inpatient or outpatient, or immediate talk therapy / psychiatry.. I've been to many of the E.R.s in the city and they're also there for this exact reason. I'm proud of you for reaching out. I’d recommend Helen Cain http://www.familyalliancecounseling.com/anne-arundel-county-md-helene-t-cain.html She's a therapist for all ages and located near Cheeseburger in Paradise. She gives great advice, but she can't prescribe meds. That's the only difference between a therapist and psychiatrist -- one can prescribe meds, and one can't.

Try contacting Safe Harbor Christian Counseling. They were excellent for me, and have offices everywhere. I don't know of a specific one for children. They are psychologists though...

See if Dr. Jim cerio is still seeing people. He used to be on I think 924. South of tollgate road . He got me on track. Probably own my life to that guy!
