Maybe consider donating to another cause besides an orphanage? They are largely unregulated and perhaps not doing the best thing for the kids. I'd suggest a microfinance organization with clients in Thailand if you want to keep it local. The Camillian Home in Lat Krabang. They do not have an office on Sukhumvit however you can visit the Camillian Hospital on Sukhumvit 55 and ask for Father Giovanni who is affiliated with both.
