Kae N. replied:
Typically the psychiatrist who takes care of the patient for so long should know best about the case and can recommend the right psychologist or perhaps she doesn't really specialize in treating Schizophrenia. My firsthand experience is with Dr.Wittaya at Rama 9 hospital but not sure he is good with this kind of case and most importantly, he doesn't do psychotherapy I guess. Rama 9 hospital has only 2 psychologists while Manorom has a lot more so a psychiatrist has more choices in recommending the right psychologist/therapist for her. Did you take a look at various doctors' profiles and ask a nurse or staff at Manorom when making appointment? They should know which doctor has experience or specializes in treating Schizophrenia most.
Kae N. replied:
A friend of mine who has depression/bipolar recommended Dr.Sombat at Manarom. She has been his patient for over a year. http://www.manarom.com/dr_sombat.html But I myself would recommend this doctor (with no personal experience, just from my own research). I planned to see this doc before but haven't got a chance to go see him yet. http://www.manarom.com/dr_krisakorn.html Search for the clips of these two doctors on YT, they both talked about Schizophrenia.
I have a friend going through a difficult time. Does anyone know or recommend a decent psychotherapist here in Bangkok they can talk to to help them through it?
Wayne C. replied:
I have heard people talk about the Community Services of Bangkok on Sukhumvit Soi 33. Had a former boss who had a breakdown and he checked himself into Manarom Hospital in Bangna

Thanks Rach. Our daughter does physical therapy near Tiwanon intersection already, so we will look into it. Camilla, thank you for the recommendation. I know Acorns to Oak as they were recommended by our school for her physical therapy. School therapist just wrote back within 20 minutes for a meeting! I think my post was more of a vent than anything else, but regardless I do feel better! I will definitely check out Rainbow Room.

John Walker and Jack Daniels are good therapist I'm told. ;)
Céline L. replied:
Sam Stevens, clearly you have never left your country until now. And I am glad we have never met in public. An expat group is the spot where people help each other. Whether it's for medical, housing, classes, welcoming newcomers to Bangkok, etc. I am not quite sure what you are doing here. You should leave this room if you just wanna be leaving disrespectful comments like this and learn anger management. Because this behavior should be unacceptable.
Paul C. replied:
I have a friend who always went to Bumrungrad Hospital to see a psychiatrist there for such meds.
Céline L. replied:
Sam Stevens, first of, being insomniac doesn't make you a junkie or drug addict. I don't even know how you even came up with that. I don't do drugs and rarely drink alcohol. If you're going to insult people like this, you should keep it to yourself instead of stabbing people with insults and disrespect. Have a good weekend
