Hey good luck Jacqueline. I am a personal trainer here. Just a note that Exercise Referral (and I'm not sure about cardiac rehab) isn't / aren't recognised by the European REPS. I am a Level 4 UK PT (Obesity and Diabetes Management with Exercise Referral) but EREPS works on a different scale and my L4 isn't recognised here. Yes I have the extra knowledge etc but can't be registered on EREPS as this.

Dr Mary McCarthy (American) is a good GP and fairly priced. She also accepts most health insurance companies. She´ll likely be able to recommend a good English-speaking specialist for you http://www.barcelona-metropolitan.com/locations/dr-mary-mccarthy/ Even if you had the NIE, finding a good English-speaking specialist in the publich health system is tricky

I would go to emergency ward at the hospital and wait your turn. At this time it shouldn't be more than 3 hours wait and there are always English speaking DRs. The other staff less so. With European health card its either free or basic fee of circa 20 euros. If you need a prescription it will cost additionally but again, circa 5-10 euros. Get well soon:)
