I used Bellevue Plumbing recently to replace a frost free hose bib that wouldn't shut off. Mt. Si plumbing told me it would be a week before he could do it and when the water won't stop that simply isn't acceptable. I would have rather used a local plumber but some never called back.

Does anyone know a (Seattle-area) plumber worth recommending?

The original Joe the Plumber (not the political one) was awesome: http://www.joetheplumberseattle.com/ (he came to unclog our basement drain, which we had been unsuccessful at doing, and in the process told me how to fix some drips and such in other parts of the house, and even gave me a part to do so with, so that I wouldn't have to pay his rate to fix it!)

Julie Plaut Warwick - we had that issue right after we moved in to our place. We received a notice for 'excessive water use' about a week after moving in. The bill we received shortly thereafter almost stopped my heart -- it was crazy high! The place had been vacant for ~2 months after. If you call the water company, they will give you some things to check prior to calling a plumber. Our problem was solved when we realized one of the toilets was still running and would just empty/refill by itself since the last construction person was there. The billing department also let us do payments to break up the bill somewhat.
