Ive worked for several cleaning companies while in college. All the companies I have worked for preform background checks on all their employees. Anybody with any theft, violent crime, drug charges, and the like will not be hired. My suggestion is call around. While the cleaning may be the same, rates definitely are not. Also, some of the owners are complete and total jerks (trust me, Ive worked for them). Make sure you ask what is typical of a first time cleaning, if they offer specialty cleanings for an up-charge, and how the first cleaning will differ from future routine cleanings. Also ask about what chemicals the company uses. I know that Absolutely Clean (at least when I worked there) was very chemical light and would use only water for many applications, whereas Merry Maids is chemical heavy (but they do use natural cleaners like vinegar if you'd like). What else? As a customer you can always ask to meet your cleaners before hand, and request that your cleaner isnt new to the company (usually most companies will keep new cleaners with supervisors or long-term employees to monitor them). Another thing you can ask is about their insurance/replacement policy if, heaven forbid, something valuable gets stolen or broken. Most places Ive worked at will replace the item before your next cleaning (Ive only ever broken items by mistake, and trust me, this WILL happen eventually). Finally, never feel intimidated to ask for references! While I do not own a company, I have several references of people I occasionally clean for in case I need to pick up an odd job every now and then, and a professional company shouldnt be any different.

I can't vouch for trustworthy, but Absolutely Clean will do a good job.
