Dr. Gross in Zehlendorf said that they're booked up until August even when I explained that her eyes have changed (this was last week before her glasses broke). They insisted that they couldn't see her even though we've been there before for exams. I am going to check out the one in Friedenau tomorrow. Thanks Amanda!

Normal eye checkups are covered by statutory insurance. If you want a glaucoma test you will have to pay yourself unless you are especially in danger of getting it, then it might be covered. It cost €20 the last time I had one, I think. I can't help with a specific English-speaking doctor but there is a website where you can find doctors by language and specialization. Here are the opthamologists who speak English: http://www.aerzte-berlin.de/_php/therapie30/dbsuche.php3

In any case. Don't be too upset if the ophtamologist offers you an appointment only in 3 months or so. Ophtamologist are the worst medical specialists regarding waiting times.

I needed an appointment for a normal 15min check. I called 40 eye doctors in berlin. Of the about 15-20 that even answered the phone most said they don't even take new patients. One gave me an appointment in March.
One had somebody cancel recently and gave me an appointment for the next day. Success rate is better I found if you look a bit outside the S Bahn Ring, like Marzahn or Hellersdorf etc. Unless you miraculously find somebody within walking distance to you, it's only 10 more minutes on public transport anyway.
Berlin is really completely fucked in terms of doctors and local government. Insane how much time you have to waste here on stuff that's usually not an issue in southern Germany e.g.
