I don't have any specific information for you, but here's a photo of that address in 1904. #207 would be just left of the central lobby entrance (the current location of Trattoria Centrale restaurant). http://www.bhamwiki.com/w/File:Frank_Nelson_Building_1904.jpg

A lot of them are online if you have a paid Ancestry.com account (I don't). 1884 is on Google Books ( https://books.google.com/books/about/City_Directory_of_Birmingham_and_Gazette.html?id=r10TAAAAYAAJ ). For a simple look-up, you can probably get help from a librarian at the Southern History department at Birmingham Public Library (205-226-3665). For more detailed research, they keep a list of professional genealogists: http://www.bham.lib.al.us/resources/genealogy/Researchers.aspx

I played there many times. Kenneth and I rode up and down the fire tower many times. Played with Edwards sons in a ball field he made across the road from his house. Was not long ago that I was there and don't recall the house across from Ken's Mom and Dad's. It was all woods back then of course. Well good to know that you are still in the general area .
