Does anyone know of a good physical therapist in the Somerville area that will actually work me out at therapy and not just send me home to do everything...

Nicholas Mitropoulos at Tufts was pretty great - he has a whole facility for Tufts athletes, and handles non-Tufts folks there too - 617-627-5145 - Nick.Mitropoulos at tufts.edu

That's a great request! If you self-pay, you'll get a different kind of treatment than if insurance is only going to reimburse them $40 (or whatever) for the half hour. Not sure if these folks have a Boston-based therapist currently, but anyone who's trained with them will get you straight. You should see if there is someone around here to evaluate and treat you. Worth the $$$ and extra time. http://www.instituteofimt.com/
Does anyone have experience with any of the Physical Therapy offices in town? I'd rather not just pick out of a hat. I've gotten two recommendations so far--only one...

If you believe in chiropracters, Birmingham Chiropractors has done wonders for me when I've had back and hip problems. Dr. Tim Prader is a miracle worker! Plus he's funny and, may I add, easy on the eyes!
