We use Arrow Pest Control for this. They come out monthly (in season) and dust prone areas or where there are holes. After our first month, we are impressed, doesn't eliminate all but sure does control them. We find dead ones laying around &/or ones that appear dazed and step on them. To supplement that, we take matters into our own hands & use the good ole tennis racket!

Yes, the traps work. Stone Depot sells them for $15 each. But, you have to plug existing holes first. You can buy the wood plugs at Home Depot that fit exactly. Can't remember the size - maybe 3/8"? Be sure to either stuff a little steel wool into the hole first, or spray the hole with wd-40, or stuff moth ball crystals into the hole before plugging- to kill whatever's in there so it doesn't hatch and chew through the plug from the inside. Use an adhesive to hold the plug in place.

But Ill answer your question in hopes it doesn't get me in trouble again. My patented Carpenter Bee Gel is a fantastic solution to those pesky, and destructive, Carpenter Bees. Supplied in a 12cc irrigation syringe with a curved tip, each one treats about 8-10 holes. Unlike sprays that you get at home improvement and hardware stores, which dry out in a week, drip on you, and are messy, Bee Be Gone is a thick gel that does not dry out, skin over, and lasts from 8-12 months. Simply squirt a dab, about 1cc or so, into each hole, and within minutes to an hour ( depending on the depth of the tunnel ) the bees will be coming out, the gel sticks to them, and they die right before your eyes. It is effective for new bees that try and enter the hole as well. Come Fall, you just seal up the hole with caulk or dowels, and problem solved. You will be Carpenter Bee free in no time. It is superior to liquid sprays inasmuch as the gel does not dry out and preserves the active life of the pesticide for much longer than in liquid form. This way, any bees entering or exiting the nest throughout the Spring and Summer will come in contact with the gel, and die shortly thereafter. This is important as the pesticide must remain active until Fall when all the larvae have matured and exited the tunnels, getting the gel on them too. Sprays, like Carpenter Bee killer, WD40, Carburetor cleaner don't get it - they dry out much to fast and are then useless. They only kill the bees that you happen to spray near the entrance of the holes - the tunnels can be several feet long, so those way down inside sprays do not reach, and sprays do NOT reach the larval chamber. Every 7 weeks the larvae hatch, and you have new bees. Unless there is something in that hole that is still active, you have wasted your time. It is not possible, without an investment in expensive equipment to force Sevin dust deep enough into the holes to reach all the bees, or the larvae. My product does all that. $10 per syringe, each syringe will treat 8-12 holes. Pickup in Blairsville.
