Help!! The carpenter bees are eating our cabin. Does anyone have any solutions or recommend a pest control company?
Shawn B. replied:
We use The Terminator for our general pest control, and have recently added their carpenter bee service. Not sure yet, but we did see a dead one last time we were up. We'll check again this weekend. http://www.terminatorpcs.com

This is what I used for existing bees, workers better than anything. Available on amazon. You had to break their cycle and then plug the holes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbzfmbwuD8I Get the stick (split it with your neighbors and the Drion). http://www.amazon.com/Dustick-Duster-with-21-foot-reach/dp/B003ORY5ZM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1430826466&sr=8-1&keywords=dustick

Also, I used an preventive additive called "Bug Juice" in the stain (if you're going to stain soon) which also seems to work. Not cheap - available at Home Depot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2 mUkaIi-jM

We use Arrow Pest Control for this. They come out monthly (in season) and dust prone areas or where there are holes. After our first month, we are impressed, doesn't eliminate all but sure does control them. We find dead ones laying around &/or ones that appear dazed and step on them. To supplement that, we take matters into our own hands & use the good ole tennis racket!

Yes, the traps work. Stone Depot sells them for $15 each. But, you have to plug existing holes first. You can buy the wood plugs at Home Depot that fit exactly. Can't remember the size - maybe 3/8"? Be sure to either stuff a little steel wool into the hole first, or spray the hole with wd-40, or stuff moth ball crystals into the hole before plugging- to kill whatever's in there so it doesn't hatch and chew through the plug from the inside. Use an adhesive to hold the plug in place.
I am looking for an exterminator. I have a cabin that a family of mice have decided to share with us, only we aren't willing. Someone recommended a great exterminator...

Those old fashioned spring traps work, baited with cheese and a dab of peanut butter. Once you get rid of them, use 'Tuff Stuff for Pest Control' to seal up their entry places.
Need recomendation for an excellent insect exterminator that is not going to cost me an arm and both legs!
