I used Intelligent Labor and Moving. Their quote was right on, and they did the work quickly and easily. In fact, when I tried to help out, I realized that I was just slowing them down. They didn't break or scratch anything, the guys were really friendly. Best move yet. Btw, it wasn't the case in my instance but it came up while we were chatting in the truck: if you need to move out of an apartment quickly—I mean, like you broke up with a significant other and you need to get out stealthily while they're at work—Intelligent Moving & Labor will come over, throw your stuff into boxes, and get you out. http://www.intelligentlabor.com/ Most expensive movers I've used: Gentle Giant.

Sounds like you got a good recommendation, so congrats on the new job. Always rough in this economy.

I love Gentle Giant and have used them three times. They're fast and super-nice. If you don't have anything expensive and just want something cheap (read: not insured), the best thing to do is rent a truck and go to a Labor Ready for a couple of movers. They'll also clean your place for you afterwards if you so choose.

I do marketing for a moving/storage company. But I'll give it to you straight. Every moving company does basically the same thing, give or take reliability, insurance, and prices. Take a look at [MyLazybones.com](http://MyLazybones.com). If you like what you see, I can swing you a 15% discount.
Can anyone recommend a moving company for a local move?
Gi L. replied:
Amazing Moves, best out there, though hard to book and a little pricier then others (I think), but the best in my opinion. They'll take the time to place furniture, boxes, etc, exactly where you ask (moved the couches several times for my wife), fast to load and unload and no damage for our local move.

Favorite moving company? Looking for a great recommendation! Thanks!

I have used Your Personal Mover almost 10 times! In 2005, they sent me a Christmas card because they moved me (and my furnature) four times in just that one year. They are awesome. They moved my crazy hard four poster bed up three flights and down (4 times) and all over the place. I always tip them well. They rock: http://yourpersonalmover.net/

Check with www.boulderhackerspace.com. They may be able to Do a custom one out for cheap. I found joining a makerspace to be the best way of cranking out the custom pieces I need. Having access to all sorts of equipment I could not otherwise afford is a huge plus.
