Where is the best place to camp in Montana? We would love to try out a new place! :)
Alice F. replied:
"The best" all depends on what you want to do while you are camping. The mt.gov website for state parks has a pull-down menu at the bottom of the page where you can choose your interests while searching camping locations. Choose "visiting" in the menu bar here, then "state parks" then "camping". http://stateparks.mt.gov/camping/
Melanie I. replied:
Cliff & Wade lake is pretty, Canyon Ferry is nice, Petosi is a lot of fun... Like Alice said, it all depends on where you want to go. Northern MT is beautiful too, as is the Bob Marshall.....

I really like camping anywhere along Hebgen Lake near West Yellowstone! Madison Arm is a campground that is really pretty, right on the lake.

Pioneer Mountains Scenic Byway between Wise River and Polaris. Many Forest Service campgrounds or just camp along the river or many creeks. Ghost towns, crystal digging, fishing, hiking, hot springs, mountain lakes.

Hyalite Res. just south of town- stunning views of the peaks towering over the water! Hebgen or Quake Lake near West Yellowstone... beautiful areas to camp, great view of some of the Hilgard Peaks depending on what campground you're at.. Rainbow Point on Hebgen is my personal favorite. Fairy Lake up past Bridger Bowl... beautiful view of Sacagawea & Naya-Nuki Peaks, but doesn't open until July... Cliff & Wade Lakes- south of Ennis on a tributary of the Madison Ennis Lake- just north of Ennis, not IN the mountains, but does have AMAZING views of the high peaks of the Madison Range to the east & the Tobacco Roots to the west! only downside is it can get pretty windy without much for trees to block the wind...

Camp Agape and Boys and Girls club have programs you can select how many days per week you want them to participate, but it's for school age children. Bozeman Rec Dept has classes/camps, the Ridge has classes, Motion Athletics has classes/camps, Spire climbing center has classes, Lone Mountain has classes/camps
