Hi friends! Headed up to Solvang this weekend with some friends. Any suggestions for places to eat and/or wineries? I haven't been there in years. Thanks!

AJ Spurs for dinner and Paula's Pancake House for breakfast. I never miss either when I go.

Definitely Trattoria Grappola (however you spell it.) The split pea soup place is Anderson's which is fun but not gourmet. El Rancho market is a fantastic place to shop for exotic and yummy pantry items, great veggies, meats and fish, and they have a killer sandwich shop/deli.

This is going to sound crazy but my friends and I will make trips specifically to eat the Viking corn dogs at Solvang Brewing Co. Their corn dog is unbelievably tender with an extra crispy coating. Definitely worth a stop and try if you are there. As for vineyards my absolute favorite is Rideau and then Koehler. Have fun! I'm so jealous!

Be absolutely certain to see barrelworks at Firestone for whatever experimental beers they are offering that day. Sewe Ascendant Spirits for their fabulous Breaker Bourbon. For food, Hitching Post, Sides and Shoes cannot be beat. Paulas Pancake House is great for Breakfast. I avoid most of the places in Solvang. For wineries, Tensley, Epiphany and Consiliance in Los Olivos. Head west on 246 and go to Melville and to the Lompoc Ghetto for one of my faves, Flying Goat Cellars.

I suggest the Rideau Vineyard. Yummy wines. http://www.rideauvineyard.com.

We like Los Olivos Cafe and Wine Merchant. Have found the restaurants in Solvang to be meh at best.

Los Alimos:Full of Life. The winery suggestions could go on and on. Artiste, Kenneth Volk, Rancho Sisquoc, and my personal fav Lucas and Llewellyn. Best value for a wine club ever. You can even mix and match with their Italian winery Mandolina.

Los Olivos cafe for lunch and dinner, hitching post. Pam's in solvang for breakfast.

Sides Hardware And Shoes - A Brothers Restaurant and S.Y. Kitchen for dinner, then breakfast at Paula's Pancake House - or any place in Solvang. We like Lucas & Lewellen Vineyards, Stolpman Vineyards, tercero wines...if you can get over to the Lompoc Ghetto for the day that would be great too. PM me for more if you need it.
