Hi all! I was hoping someone could offer a recommendation for a vet that you trust for surgery for a slightly torn acl in our dog, BeBop. We’re newer to the area and...

I believe MedVet Specialty Center (on Clybourn near Belmont) has a board certified surgeon on staff. It's probably not cheap, but pet insurance will go a long way toward covering costs. Good luck, little BeBop.

Far drive but had my dogs knee surgeries done at Fox Lake Animal Hospital. Half the price from all others I checked.

Yes check out Med Vet. It’s a little further out of the city, but you may also want to check out VSC in Buffalo Grove. I have a large breed and though he hasn’t needed surgery yet, a lot of our large breed friends have gone here for their surgeries https://www.vetspecialty.com

University of Illinois in Champaign Urbana has one of the best ACL repair teams in the country. They are not expensive. BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Skokie is affordable too. For future reference BluePearl has emergency services too.

Scott Van Der Weele good to know about Blue Pearl! Thank you.
Can anyone recommend a good veterinarian in the Buffalo Grove area?

Call All Creatures Animal Hospital, we have been going there for 20+ years. They are located in Lake Zurich off of Rt 22 just north of Quentin. http://allcreatureslakezurich.com/

I can't speak about that particular surgery, or costs, but my doggo needed a toe removed due to a mast cell tumor. I took her to the VCA in Aurora and I can't say enough good things about everyone there. The consultations were great, the surgeon answered all of my questions, called me when the operation was over. All of the staff exceeded my expectations. Seems that VCA is either love/hate for some on here, I am thankful for everything they did. They also gave me pricing in writing, in advance. Sorry to hear about your puppers torn ccl.

We were faced with this injury with an older dog.. the cost and rehab following was a big concern.. we found that the Univ of Illinois vet program does the surgery at a lower price than commercial vets.. this was about 10 years ago so the situation may have changed... in the end, due to age and cost we elected to not do the surgery. Our dog hand many years of a good life, albeit a bit slower. Arthritis was an issue in his last year, it so were many other issues...

Do not go to river view pet clinic in Plainfield/ Naperville’ on route 59. This doctor is a quack. He doesn’t know what he is doing and overcharges for his incompetence. VCA aurora is great but a little pricey. There is also vet specialists in buffalo grove. The doctors their are the best

Check out Midwest Animal Hospital in Orland park. They took care of my puppers surgeries (mast cell removals, ttl on back legs, similar to a tplo). The specialists at buffalo grove are always recommended too, but I have no personal experience with them.

Literally just had my 3 year old GSD have this surgery in May. I HIGHLY recommend going to the [Riverview Vet Clinic](https://g.page/RiverviewVet?share ) by the jewel off 135 th in Plainfield. Dr. Marion is who performed my girls surgery and he teaches this procedure to other vets annually in national conventions. Since May she's made a full recovery almost like it never happened. Be warned the key to your dogs recovery is following all of the rules the vet sets. It's gonna be a rough 2 months especially since your pups going to be in the crate exclusively for about 2 months. Best of luck to you and your dog! DM me if you have any other questions!

I’ve had to deal with 3 acl surgeries with my English bulldogs. Dr. Matt Harres@All Pets Hospital in Lockport is fantastic with TPLO. They are a VCA affiliate. I’d never trust anyone else with my dogs. I drive from the City to get there.

My Labrador pitbull (70 pounds) had CCL surgery last May, I kept calling local vets around the area for prices. I found that VCA Schaumburg has the most affordable prices, you can look up Doctor Pare, he has his website with all types of information on his surgery. I took my dog there and paid $5K with all services included such as post medication + the consultation a few weeks after her surgery. It is now one year later and she is walking great. I am careful of not letting her run wild because I know dogs over compensate for one leg by using the other.
