Am in the middle of a single story extension - needed piling. Would strongly recommend a chartered architect. I am using Chris Cook of Axis Architecture, Wickham. They are overseeing the whole thing. I expect the extra cost will be made up in savings. I am new to all this so it has been an interesting steep learning curve. Plese pm me if you want. I can give you an insider's view!.

We're making same decision! Went on 'check a professional' to get some local architects to look at house & quote. Going with Your Home Plans Ltd - initial designs due back within 2 weeks so we'll see but so far dealings with them very good.... Recommend using that website though to look at local companies.
