We are moving to Macleay in another week or so. Does anyone know about how to get a mooring in the channel along Western Rd?
Preferably just south of that long...

You have to contact Maritime Safety Queensland to buy a mooring. People cannot legally sell a mooring to you. See http://www.msq.qld.gov.au/Waterways/Buoy-moorings.aspx .

As for moorings, they are not easy to get, maybe contact the boat club as someone might want to sell a mooring. Also www.macleayisland.net has good info and contact details for businesses.
Alene I. replied:
It's actually $47 (we just paid ours) and it's a yearly fee. Nobody owns any mooring and you can't legally let anyone else use it (although everyone does from time to time). Just contact Maritime Safety, tell them you want a mooring off Western Rd and they will give you coordinates. You will probably have to put one down yourself, starting from scratch. Be warned - don't find one already there and then ask them if you can have that one. We did that and it took about eight months to sort it all out. We still had to renew all the tackle so it didn't save us any money. Better to start from scratch and get a mooring which is safe for your boat.

Wow, thanks for all these answers, so will bring the car across on a rising mid tide, and contact Maritime Safety for information about a mooring early next week. So looking forward to being part of this community..
Hi all, I've stupidly spilt some liquid foundation make up on my carpet at a place i'm renting. Anyone know any carpet cleaners without a hefty minimum call out charge....
Maria R. replied:
A Norwex microfibre cloth and water. If that doesn't work - Norwex carpet stain buster. Where do you live? I have both products here you could purchase or order online via https://mariarutledge.norwexbiz.com.au
