I don't remember what was before Burger Chef, but Burger chef came first, then Denny Strong bought it and lost the franchise, ran it as a restaurant, then Dawn Donuts. Next to it was a bar where Maggie's Tavern is/ was? . I don't remember what was on the other side though.

I worked at Snow White also! Wednesdays after school and on Saturday. I sometimes make my grandchildren curly hotdogs! Learned it there!

I looked in my 1957 Cadillac phone book and the closest business I could find was Bremer Service (gas station) at 501 North Mitchell, right on the corner. Across the street was Walt's Service, a Gulf gas station. I don't recall what was there before the Burger King, but I do remember when that restaurant was built. We lived a block away on Lake Street, right next to the Tribune Record.

Boston Burger circa 1965..5 th grade, my 1 st date..Burger 15 cents, coke 10 cents, tax 1 cent. Don't know if it was worth the 26 cents I spent on her. BB was a short bike ride away home, and accroos Mitchell St from Stinken Lincoln. I'd go to BB for lunch once and a while and see the high school kids. At that time, had 3 siblings at CHS, so I knew a lot of those scary "high schoolers." And took bribes to "NOT REPORT" who was smoking..Still enjoy a "grasshopper" shake..but now called mint or shamrock..
Does anyone remember a restaurant across the street from the theater? I think it was called the Wexford Café , but I could be wrong on that. I do remember going there...
Laura K. replied:
The Wexford Café burned down... owned by Mr. Morency at one point... he was my hubby's grandfather...
Patty T. replied:
My grandparents and I used to eat there, grandpa would always play Big Bad John on the coin operated music player at the booths.
