Hey Michiganders, can anyone recommend a nice restaurant in Traverse City, or the TC area? I want a classy or fun joint to take my girlfriend out for her birthday. ...

My favorite place to go is [Boone's](http://www.booneslli.com/). They have some of the best Prime Rib you'll ever find. Nice place but not formal, just throw on a polo.

[North Peak](http://www.northpeak.net/np.html) has great food and great beers. If you want some awesome burgers (and a good selection of beer), head on over to [Bubba's](http://www.tcbubbas.com/index.html). For a bit more class, you can always check out the places downtown like [Amical](http://www.amical.com/), [Red Ginger](http://www.eatatginger.com/), or [Poppycock's](http://poppycockstc.com/). I've never been to Amical or Red Ginger, but I've never heard anything bad about them either.
If you don't mind spending the $$$ I would say the food at blu in Glen Arbor has no equal in the area. It's also one of the few places you can eat dinner while watching the sun set over Lake Michigan.

Well I'm also subscribed to [/r/beer](http://www.reddit.com/r/beer) so I'd recommend North Peak like that one guy did. I've only been to TC once, and that was just recently, so there could be better places around. Also, if you're in to antiques they have a really nice store down town with all sorts of fun stuff.

Spend a weekend in Northport. For instance: Hike, snowshoe, ski, fat-tire (rentals in 'Port) the 1500 acre park behind the airport. There's Barbs Bakery or the Tribune (try the biscuits and gravy) for breakfast, the Garage and Tuckers for lunch and dinner, Deeps pizza and Mitten Brewery as well. Check out Christmas at the Lighthouse or downtown shopping, if Will isn't open at We Rent Fun his numbers on the door and he'll be there in a jiffy (he might even guide a tour). There's downtown lodging and B&B's too.
