Hey Calgary FB peeps! I need some Electrical work done - any Electricians or Handyman/woman leads would be greatly appreciated!

Jamie Cayer is my electrician that I use on all my renovation and new home construction projects. He also has a colourful assistant Martin that does some jobs under Jamie's supervision. Gets the job done though. (403) 589-9693
Construction crowd sourcing here... Anyone in Calgary have any recommendations for a handyman/reno business?
Thanks!

Handyman? You need a certified electrician with a permit to do this work.

Attached garage or detached? I wired my garage a couple of years ago and it wasn’t too hard. Pulled a permit at the city desk downtown, trenched the yard and installed conduit, city inspected trench, pulled cable from main box to garage and completed garage termination, city inspected again and signed off, then I hooked up the main box. The city has a guide online that lays out all the requirements If you hire someone to pull the cable, they’ll need to pull their own permit since only the homeowner can work under a homeowners permit. I’d recommend installing a few extra conduits for future use as well, things like TV and internet cabling.

These guys are excellent gas fitters: https://www.protechplumbing.ca/gasfitting-information/

Since you are pulling permits for electrical and gas anyway, you could do the trench (assuming the ground is not frozen), drill a hole in the foundation wall for the conduit/service and pull the cable, but the connections on both ends should be done by an electrician. They're going to get inspected anyway.

I did a power line to my garage, so here's what you need if the electrician says you can: - Trench 18" deep, or 12" deep with cover (pressure treated 2 x6 s is what I used) - NMWU (non-metallic wet underground) wire, 6/3 or larger for 50 amps is what I used (I went 40+ feet) - PVC conduit for the wire, or use shielded cable
