It was $12 but as Rick said it was a Shark Bite fitting so as long as I got a clean, straight cut I didn't need to do anything else. Had no idea about Shark Bite fittings or else I would just cut the sucker apart a few weeks ago.

You can buy a Shark Bite coupling (extender) and ask Home Depot for a scrap piece of copper pipe. That's what I did but didn't need the extra part or pipe.
