I'm really curious to see how many therapists in this group have been Attuned to Reiki ?
Did you receive your Attunement before you became a Massage Therapist or after ?
Keith G. replied:
There is binding energy holding the parts of protons and neutrons together (strong force), as well as binding electrons to the nuclei and binding molecules together (electromagnetic force). When the energy binding nuclei together is reduced, we call it exothermic nuclear reaction. When that holding molecules together is reduced, we call it an exothermic chemical reaction. You don't want to be around when much of either happens quickly. Most of this isn't even quantum physics as such. Just for reference, if you could convert 46 millions of a gram of matter into energy (say via matter-anti-matter annihilation), you would release the energy equivalent to a ton of TNT. This is inadvisable (as well as difficult) in any environment frequented by massage therapists. It is true that we and all other matter are mostly empty space. The electromagnetic force both binds our atoms into molecules and holds our molecules together, it also repels our surfaces from the surfaces of other matter. What we perceive as solid isn't actually solid but the interaction of electromagnetic forces. The nuclei of our atoms are surrounded by electron clouds as are the nuclei of objects around us. The electron clouds repel each other strongly -- strongly enough to break bonds between molecules if you try to move one object through another. As noted in a writeup above (which I'll regive the link for), the human body has very weak magnetic fields associated with small currents in muscles and neurons; the heart, long muscles, and brain in descending order. These take a cryogenic detector in a shielded room to measure. http://www.ramblemuse.com/.../2014/04/27/science-and-energy/ You can temporarily gain a static electric field moving your shoes across a rug in a dry environment. Of course you lose that the moment you touch someone else or a door knob. None of the above is under conscious control beyond walking on, sitting on, and otherwise touching other surface. The energy considerations are irrelevant to anything done in massage or bodywork beyond everyday use of electricity and/or chemical hot or cold packs.

It's all in the words chosen and the order in which they're written ain't it? Gotta love Keith Eric Grant.
Keith G. replied:
Andrew, neutrinos and whatever dark matter might be motivated my comment that whatever one might propose as a new "energy" would have to interact significantly with matter yet be so far unobserved. We have many neutrinos going through our body every da y, put since they interact negligibly with matter they don't affect us. As an example of just how transparent matter is to neutrino's, it has been painstakingly possible to detect enough of them to picture the sun in neutrino intensity with neutrinos passing through the earth itself. http://strangepaths.com/the-sun-seen.../2007/01/06/en/ It just took 503 days and a 50,000 ton pool of water 1 km underground to detect sufficient neutrinos. The advantage of the photo for science is that, while normal light takes something like 40,000 years to go from the core of the sun to the surface, neutrinos are nearly instantaneous (i.e. they don't bounce around interacting with solar matter).

The quote that "Everything is energy", btw, is not from Einstein and is not based on physics. See http://quoteinvestigator.com/2012/05/16/everything-energy/ The mentions of "vibration" also have no basis in physics. They do reek of "The Celestine Prop hecy". On the other hand, if one could vibrate at a high frequency and with the reliability of a Cesium atom, you might be useful as a clock. http://science.howstuffworks.com/atomic-clock3.htm
