NC State would be my first choice as well, but I'll also recommend Dr. Gary Spodnick at [Veterinary Specialty Hosptial in Cary](http://www.vshcarolinas.com/). He has worked miracles for us in the past and was on the faculty at NC State for many years before moving into private practice. He also has plenty of experience with Shepards and VHS has a history of working with police dogs (typically Shepards). Even if they aren't the best choice for this particular situation, they are a great place to be aware of as they offer emergency + surgical care 24/7/365. Best of luck with the ACL repair.

[Veterinary Surgical Referral Practice](http://www.vsrp.net/) in Cary. This place was absolutely amazing when one of my dogs had to have surgery. They were so caring, gave us tons of information, managed to find a surgical option that was way less invasive than what had been initially recommended to us elsewhere, and the final cost was even less than the initial estimate we'd gotten.

Personally I have had great luck with Raleigh Ortho in the past. They are really nice and and understand a runners mentality.

Try Brian Schiff the PT at EXOS Athletes' Performance at Raleigh Orthopaedic - He works with a lot of professional athletes and weekend warriors. Often booked solid but is WELL worth the wait.
