Shamrock Plumbing replaced my shower valve with one I already bought. Took 2 hours on a Monday during normal hours and the bill was $487?!

Cave Junction has its own page online that can give you a lot of info. Some winters we get a lot of snow and then other times we get tons of rain. The strange thing is it could snow in Kerby and be sunny with no snow in CJ just two miles away. Or even rain in CJ and not in Kerby. There is an interesting saying here if you don't like the weather Just wait a minute. LOL
Linda C. replied:
There is plenty of rural property for sale -- 10 acre farms and bigger if you want. Prices are lower than anywhere else in Oregon and the property taxes are lower too. We have little police service due to ongoing county cut to the sheriff's dept. We do have volunteer neighborhood watches, people have home protection, and neighbors look out for one another. Also, Cave Junction and the Illinois Valley have small communities where everyone knows everyone else's business. There are a lot of good-hearted folks who are very involved in community organizations, do fundraisers, help families in need, etc. We are also big on organic and sustainable agriculture, wineries, llama and alpaca farms for fiber arts, lots of artists, musicians, craftsmen, and plenty of things to do all year. We are dog and horse-loving, and all other kinda of animal-loving too. Lots of us have adopted horses, dogs, and cats. We are generally not high up in the mountains where we get a lot of heavy snow as we are mostly located at 1400 feet. Snow is usually over 2500 feet. You may find a nice place along Caves Hwy (Hwy 46) at higher elevations if that's what you want. That road leads up to the Oregon Caves which ranges from 4,000 - 4,300 feet on Grayback Mtn. Personally, I would recommend the Selma area -- lots of farms, close to Grants Pass (and medical services), hiking trails, and still in the country. We only have one hot month -- August. Spring, fall and summer are pleasant. Winter is cold and rainy from Jan.-March. We get some light snow that melts in a day. Best of all, it is a gorgeous area with mountain, forests, rivers and wildlife. I'd recommend you rent a place, look at property for sale and get a feel for the Illinois Valley. Attend fesitvals, go to Taylors Country Store on Friday nights for dinner and music, check out other attractions and restaurants in CJ and GP. You'll find something to like and a neighborhood you like. We did!

For a real estate agent, I'd recommend mine, a very knowledgeable and fast-acting one: Cilicia Philemon. Office #541-592-3858. She's a straight-shooter and can answers any questions you have about the various communities in our region.
Wendy W. replied:
http://cavejunction.com/ this site should be helpful. It has a lot of links you can check out. Hmmm 300 days of sun. I wouldn't say that but the spring and summer here are fabulous and the beauty here is a wonder for the eyes to see. Right now there is a lot of property for sale that is out of the way.

Dr. Collins is practicing at the clinic in cj. I want to say he was delivering babies in GP before coming to the clinic.....?
Dawnette T. replied:
I've heard great things about Dr. Hitchcock also.
Carolyn Z. replied:
Yes Dr. Collins was ob/gyn at Grants Pass Clinic, then he retired. What I heard was that he could not practice as a doctor because he had been away too long from practicing medicine and would have to go back to school, and that he can do pap tests and discuss things with patients but that was about all. Don't know if true or not. So take this with a grain of salt.
