Hey. I just arrived in Alexandria two days ago. I'm fairly certain my little girl has a blockage. If she doesn't pass it on her own I need to get into the vet. So...I...

Please try Dr. Kawasaki at Old Bridge Veterinary hospital in Woodbridge or http://www.seavs.com/aboutseavs/meetus-ipad.html

Dr. Davis at Caring Hands Animal Hospital is also spectacular! I highly recommend her. http://caringhandsvet.com/site/view/205038_Alexandria.pml

I find them pretty reasonable. We have used Caring Hands in Bristow to treat our cats for the last 10 years or so and the Ashburn branch for the ferrets. Though well visits for ferrets can be seen by Dr. Murphy in Bristow, Dr. Davis specializes in exotics and splits her time between Ashburn and Alexandria. I like that they give estimates for everything so the cost isn't a shock after treatment. And Dr. Davis is incredibly knowledgeable, gentle, and caring. I had an emergency recently when she wasn't available and went to Pender Exotics in Fairfax where we saw Dr. McDonald - she was also astoundingly knowledgeable and compassionate.

Hi Demi, The Ferret Inn located in Columbia, Maryland can probably help you with your boarding needs. Try calling the Director, Nancy Wilson, at 410-531-4936. http://www.theferretinn.com/boarding.html
I have recently found out my ferret has adrenal disease. The vet wants to do an implant. Is this a good idea or should he have surgery? I don't know anything about him...

And make sure you are both talking about a deslorelin implant and not a melatonin implant! (Althought Melatonin can help, it only addresses symptoms and not the systemic problem that the deslo addresses)
