I need some to find a regular vet for my two dogs, I live in Middleburg, any advise?

If you want the best, check out my dad's practice in fairfax. Pendervet.com
Sylvia V. replied:
Carolyn, Jon Reiss at Loudoun Vet Practice in Purcellville is wonderful - he's both our vet and a friend from Cornell. Text me if you'd like his number.
Aaron Z. replied:
Dr. Chau has won the Angies' List Superior Service award twice already, which evaluates client surveys on price, service, professionalism, promptness, and facility (must have A's in all categories). Dr. Chau has been named "Vet Guru" by I Am Modern Magazine, ranked among the best vets in Virginia, has appeared several times on WJLA News 7, and is also certified in acupuncture as well as rehabilitation. I could go on, but you can read her more than 390+ reviews from clients here also: https://www.demandforce.com/b/family-vet

Try Leesburg veterinary hospital. Voted best in loudoun again this year.

I did http://www.housepaws.com/areas_served.html for the first time yesterday with my elderly dog, and I really liked them!

I moved to Middleburg in March 2013 and Middleburg Animal Hospital re-opened in August. Dr. Chau and Dr. Myers are a dream come true for me and my brood - currently 2 dogs and 5 cats. They cured my most recent rescue dog of heart worm, when other vets thought it was hopeless. They've done amazing work with my other animals as well. Even though Middleburg Animal Hospital hours are somewhat limited, you can always go to their main location, Family Veterinary Hospital. It's still closer to Middleburg than other practices!

Dr Reiss at Loudoun Vet Practice in Purcellville is my vet of choice and I've dealt with ALL of the ones in the Middleburg area. He is technically top-notch but is also a really nice guy. My boy Monarch enjoys our visits. I also like Dr Stang - he is often in surgery so schedule ahead for him. I recommend this practice to all my clients and get great feedback about the level of care. Selecting a vet is a very important decision. Great you are collecting recommendations:)
Jeanne M. replied:
Best Friends in Marshall. Dr Vaughn is excellent.
Carol W. replied:
Have used Best Friends & I like Dr. Vaughn. However every time I've REALLY needed her she's closed. LOVE Dr. Hill@Blue Ridge in Purcellville.

Think local: Middleburg Animal Hospital540-687-3300. owners grew up in Loudoun, raised kids in Loudoun, pay Loudoun taxes. We just re-opened this Middleburg business after it sat empty for a year-costing 20+ jobs. Help support Middleburg businesses. We used Lap of Love in our home last year. They were considerate and very soothing, making an incredibly difficult day a bit easier. Wishing you the best in this difficult time.

Lap of Love. They were so incredibly compassionate and professional.

On September 9 th I had to escort my best friend the same way you have to now. Make sure you remember all the good times as they go, sorry.

Pet in a box. They were so amazing and comforting. They also do general vet care at home too.
Garden_Jack replied:
It's worth checking with your vet, mine was willing to send one of their doctors over, but the timing didn't work out - which I don't fault them with. It happened on a Sunday in December and we contacted Lap of Love. Dr Abbie was wonderful and very patient with us and treated our little old man well. Proper PPE was worn and I've been tested a couple times after (not because of them just from work/routine) and I've been negative. My condolences - you're doing the best thing for your dog and yourselves staying with her.

I’m making a note to remember the recommendation for Lap of Love but, as someone else already said, our vet accepted our request to come to our home to euthanize our dogs. All they can do is say no. We’d been long time clients so loads of $$$ spent there. They arranged to swing by on their way home. It was the first time they’d done it at a client’s house and they were wonderful about it. I’m sorry for your dog’s decline. Those goodbyes are terribly hard but so important to be with them. From my experience, they find as much comfort as people do. Thank you for doing that. I had no idea people didn’t until my vet & vet tech friends shared stories.

I’m in the same boat, unfortunately. As if times weren’t hard enough. It’s harder seeing my best bud struggle, and still wag that dang tail. Sending you strength and love. ❤️

Caring Hands does in home service as well, they have a location near Fairfax and surrounding areas. Condolences.
TroyMacClure replied:
My regular vet did it. They don't usually do house calls, but we had been going there for a long time, and they obviously knew how old she was and what her condition was. So they came to our place for the end. Might be worth asking if you have a regular vet you've used (and like of course). It is absolutely the best way to do it though. Her last resting spot was her own bed. No need to haul them in the car somewhere that isn't home.

I used Hollin Hall Animal hospital last year when my girl had cancer. Extremely compassionate and kind. My heart goes out to you op. It’s been 18-months and it still hurts...a lot. That she passed at home, in my arms and surrounded by all her humans means more to me than could ever be put into words.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is so hard. My family lost two animals in 2020. For our dog, we used Lap of Love. So I second what other Redditters have said. The vet had wonderful bedside manner and walked us through the entire process. She gave us time to mourn in private and allowed our other dog into the room to sense the change in pheromones so she knew that the other had passed. We received the ashes in a beautiful urn within a few weeks. Lap of Love is excellent.

Dr. Jessica Abraham, perhaps?

We go to Mainstay Veterinary Practice in Fairfax. They have been awesome with answering my 100 s of questions and giving me advice about our new rescue pup even if I just call to ask. It's a small practice and the people who work there are great!
Jessica A. replied:
Akc.org has many good resources on getting ready for puppy. With a great dane there will be many things related to his food that you should take note (like a raised food dish and getting a food made specifically for giant breed puppies). Good luck and how exciting!
Reston peeps: can anyone recommend a good veterinarian?
Kim W. replied:
I like Dr. Foster with Companion Paws - she comes to your house.

Have a wonderful practice here in Gaithersburg but that may not be practical for you. Gaithersburg Animal Hospital, weel-regarded and kind staff.

Pender Vet near the Fairoaks Mall is my fav. Currently Im using Clocktower Animal Hospital near Centerville road and Sunrise Valley
Mark H. replied:
Clocktower gets good reviews in Washington Consumers Checkbook. We use Herndon Animal Medical Center on Elden Street.
Daune H. replied:
I absolutely loved every vet at Herndon Medical Center on Elden St. Our primary doc there was Dr. Michaels, but all of them are so good! They took care of Benji most of his life. We brought him to Reston from Cali; I miss him.
Mark H. replied:
We've used Herndon Animal Medical Center for decades. The firm was sold over the last couple of years so they have new veterinarians. I don't have any complaints or issues and the three vets there now all are very nice.
