#CHS, does anybody know of a structural engineer they can recommend? We need somebody to inspect a few cracks in our house before we sell.
Matthew N. replied:
. Yep. A pro is a good idea in this case. Cross fingers it's just concrete shrinkage. http://www.cement.org/for-concrete-books-learning/concrete-technology/focus-on-floors/concrete-shrinkage
Richard C. replied:
Try Elkin Engineering & Diagnostics. Won’t be cheap, though.
Does anyone know of a good small home builder? We are weighing options on building or buying.
Mad_Gouki replied:
You can try [Silverline Roofing](https://www.facebook.com/silverlineSC/) on FB, he has built small homes before, not sure if he still does but you might be able to get him to price one out for you.

Remember something... If you are wanting to build a house because there is something specific you want, then go for it. If you are wanting to build a house because you think it will be better quality, buy a house already built. There are no unions here, and any "skilled" labor is actually a bunch of drunks and crackheads. Seriously. Food for thought. Why go through the headaches of building a house, when then the same thing can be obtained already built.
Home builder recommendations? My husband and I are looking to build and would like some recommendations on who to use or who to avoid.
Any suggestions on contractors...

I'm a realtor so feel free to pm me if you have more questions. Pulte and Beazer do really solid, high quality work. Lots of complaints about Ryland over time. Amerisips are super cool, green/energy efficient builders- little pricey up front but you'll save over time with tax credits and utility costs. USE A REALTOR. The builder agents are nice and friendly and helpful but rep the builder ultimately. An agent doesn't cost you a penny and advocates for you. Good luck!
